Why did Marta and Daya called each other husband and wife when they hadn't yet met in person?

It's true that Marta and Daya were in an online relationship which can be regraded as a long distance relationship. But what I don't get is why they took things further to the extent of calling themselves husband and wife when they never met in person or even get married.

What was their plan going through their relationship in this manner?

For that one year that they were chatting online, I really think that they loved each other though they have communication barrier and different religious beliefs. They wanted to take it further but things started getting out of hand when Daya suggested that Marta needs to change her religious belief and when she didn't agreed with him, he stopped talking to her. I think they might still be together if Marta had agreed with Daya in doing what he wants from her.
